Kim Evans
Kim is recognised nationally as the industry leader in the provision of vegetation control services within rail corridors as he plied his trade as a teenager under the tutelage of his father who pioneered industrial weed control from the early 1960s throughout Western Australia. Kim has personally been involved with and has overseen numerous long term contracts for an impressive list of clients including BHP, RIO TINTO, Fortescue Metals Group, ARTC, Melbourne Metro Trains, Westnet Rail (WA Freight), PTA (Perth Metro), V/Line, John Holland (WA & NSW), Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure SA (DPTI) Adelaide Metro, Karara Mining Limited, Pacific National. Kim holds numerous Safe Working Qualifications around Australia, and is accredited to ChemCert chemical handling, storage, transport and usage along with all GTE Operations Staff. His passion has never been greater as he oversees GTE Track Spray from the purpose-built facilities in Echuca, ideally located to service existing clients and strategically positioned to encompass further growth, and consisting of a modern fleet of plant and equipment. GTE also has a depot set up in WA for servicing our western clients. Kim is unsurpassed in his knowledge of herbicides and their applications in rail systems.
Sam Hamilton
Since 2009, Sam has been responsible daily, for the operation of road rail equipment specifically designed for herbicide applications. Already, Sam has forged an excellent reputation within this specialised discipline of vegetation maintenance, and has extensive route knowledge, road rail competencies as well as experience in identifying and solving vegetation control issues. Sam has accumulated safe working qualifications throughout WA, VIC and SA with BHP, FMG and Rio Tinto, Karara Mining Limited, Pacific National, DPTI along with extensive operations for both V/Line, ARTC and Melbourne Metro Trains.
Kevin Baulch
Kevin joined our specialist team in late 2013 after many years as a vegetation control technician for Downer EDI, both within rail and road operations. Kevin has ideal application experience for our business and already has been a significant contributor to our team with intricate route knowledge combined with appropriate safe working certifications. Kevin has excellent route knowledge of the Victorian and South Australian rail corridor network and continues to increase his experience and knowledge through acquiring horticulture units of competency including control weeds unit.
Lee Phillips
Lee recently returned to Victoria after gaining further rail experience in Western Australia, where he was the leading hand for on rail herbicide applications throughout the John Holland maintained freight and grain networks covering in excess of 5,000 kms. Lee’s involvement in WA also saw him undertake duties on behalf of BHP and Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) in the far north of this huge state which has over 2,500 km of standard gauge in operation to transport iron ore onto the massive ships bound for China and other destinations.With over eight consecutive years of herbicide applications throughout Victoria and SA, Lee continues to develop his training credentials and experience and will draw on that vast knowledge to continue to make a sound contribution to our specialised workforce.
Aaron Piggott
Aaron commenced works with our company in 2014 and has been trained alongside qualified personnel to gain the necessary experience to work on the various networks throughout VIC and SA. Based in Echuca, Aaron has excellent attention to detail, underpinned by a very strong work ethic which will stand him in good stead. Aaron is now performing full mainline duties by himself and as an integral part of the GTE team and has been increasing his direct involvement with the specialised MTM services we perform. Aaron works on the VLINE, MTM and ARTC networks and is a valuable team member of GTE.
Jimmy Carr
Jimmy, has been steadily increasing his training and experience and will play a major role in the future works of GTE. Jimmy has gained the necessary qualifications to continue developing and improving his skills, matching his other more experienced peers at GTE. He has continued working and developing his technician qualifications, experience and route knowledge. Jimmy has branched out to include WA, VIC and SA operations into his repertoire and coupled with his past horticultural training, Jimmy has proved to be a solid team member for our company.
Jason Henderson
Jason, our newest technician to GTE Track Spray, brings five years’ experience in the rail industry throughout WA before starting with GTE in January 2018. Jason has vast experience in safeworking, risk assessments and vegetation control on the rail corridors. Jason has worked for Arc Infrastructure, PTA, BHP, Aurizon, FMG, Karara Mining Limited and more in his time working on rail. Jason is quickly accumulating his competency levels here in VIC and SA to match those held in WA nad has now worked for VLINE, MTM, ARTC, DPTI SA and Pacific National. We look forward Jason to continue developing his route knowledge of the various networks areas he is currently traversing in his new role. Jason also recently completed various horticultural study including control weeds and native plant identification units.
Grant Youens
Kingsley (Grant) joined the GTE team in 2020. Grant has experience in weed spray in WA and works mainly with our WA operations team. Grant provides specialist support services for remote locations. He is a very experienced Heavy Vehicle Driver which is a paramount to our needs in keeping herbicide and water available to our on-track spraying machines.
Kylie Henderson
Kylie joined GTE Track Spray in November 2020 replacing the previous admin staff in the Echuca Office. Learning the role quickly, she has transformed the administrative team into its current format. While she is concentrating on other parts of the business currently, she is still hands on in the Finance and Administration tasks. Kylie has continued to learn the intricacies of the rail network and is currently focusing on our compliance, auditing, and IMS systems. We look forward to seeing what she has instore for this part of the business.
